2024 Year in Review: How Project Ramadan Made a Difference

2024 was a year of milestones, growth, and impact for Project Ramadan. As we marked 15 years of fighting food insecurity, our community came together stronger than ever to make a difference.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the incredible things we achieved together.
Big Numbers, Bigger Impact
This past year, we built an astounding 12,000 food bags, helping 6,000 families across the Greater Toronto Area. Each basket symbolized not just food, but hope and relief for families in need. Here’s the breakdown:
- Mississauga & Scarborough: 3,500 bags each (feeding 1,750 families per area).
- Markham: 2,000 bags (feeding 1,000 families).
- Caledon: 1,400 bags (feeding 700 families).
- Whitby: 600 bags (feeding 300 families).
Behind the scenes, more than 500 volunteers showed up with passion and dedication, helping us raise over $269,000 to tackle food insecurity, showing the power of community in action.
A Growing Need, A Bigger Responsibility
Food insecurity continues to be a pressing issue. With a 38% rise in food bank usage and 1 in 10 people in Toronto relying on them, our mission has never been more urgent. At Project Ramadan, we remain committed to ensuring everyone has access to healthy, affordable food.
A New Year of Impact
The work doesn’t stop here. This year, we’re aiming to build another 6,000 baskets, reach more families, and expand our volunteer network to meet growing needs. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one basket at a time.
Keep an eye out for updates and upcoming events, we can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together this year!
