Community Engagement Coordinator

Attendance:  Build Days & Special Events  +  Weekly Meetings (virtual / in-person)
Hours Commitment: ~2-4 hrs per week for meetings and tasks, plus 7-10 hrs event days

Description

Project Ramadan is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to join their team. The Community Engagement Coordinator volunteer position is to manage and grow connections with community members and partners. This volunteer role focuses on organizing outreach activities, building relationships, and supporting the nonprofit’s mission through direct engagement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and attend local events to represent the organization and connect with community members
• Reach out to local groups, partners, and potential volunteers to build relationships
• Organize volunteer sign-ups, provide orientation, and check in regularly to keep volunteers engaged
• Collect feedback from community members and volunteers to share with the team for program improvement
• Work with the Communications Lead to help promote events and engagement efforts through social media, emails, or newsletters
• Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at all events and interactions
• Keep simple records of community contacts, event attendance, and volunteer involvement
• Suggest new ideas to increase community involvement and improve outreach activities

Qualifications

• Interest or experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, or related work
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills—comfortable reaching out and talking to people
• Good presentation skills to represent the organization at events and meetings
• Organized and able to keep simple records and follow up with volunteers and contacts
• Friendly, welcoming attitude with an ability to create inclusive spaces
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Passionate about the organization’s mission and eager to build community connections
• Ontario G driver’s license
